Marchesi Antinori La Braccesca Bramasole DOC 2022 14,5% Vol. 0,75 l is an expressive Syrah from Tuscany that impressively reflects the potential of the Cortona DOC appellation. The La Braccesca estate, owned by the renowned Marchesi Antinori family, extends over 508 hectares, of which 340 hectares are planted with vines. The vineyards are spread over two main areas between Montepulciano and Cortona, including renowned sites such as Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano. The name Bramasole goes back to a historic estate of the Count of Bracci, whose coat of arms still adorns the winery's logo today.


The 2022 vintage was characterised by a mild winter and spring with no significant rainfall, followed by a warm, sunny May that encouraged rapid vine development. A hot and dry summer with optimal day-night temperature fluctuations in August ensured an ideal ripening phase. The Syrah harvest for this Antinori red wine took place on 10 September with perfectly healthy grapes that exhibited excellent balance and aromatic precision. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28 °C and a maceration period of around 15 days, the wine matured for around 12 months in new and second-use French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation also took place. The wine was bottled in spring 2024. Since the first vintage in 2000, Bramasole Syrah has epitomised the combination of Tuscan tradition and international grape variety with great ageing potential.

Tasting Note

The colour in the glass is an intense red with bright violet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of ripe plums and violets accompanied by liquorice, vanilla and fine notes of cocoa. On the palate, the wine is rich and supple with a precise structure, fine tannins, remarkable freshness and a long-lasting finish with hints of vanilla and violets.

This Cortona DOC Syrah is an excellent accompaniment to braised beef, rack of lamb with a herb crust or ossobuco with polenta. It also harmonises with game dishes such as venison ragout or saddle of venison as well as with hearty pasta dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout. Matured hard cheeses such as pecorino or a spicy Taleggio emphasise its structure. The Marchesi Antinori Bramasole 2022 also reveals its full depth and elegance with Mediterranean dishes with aubergine, rosemary and dark sauces.
