The Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 2023 14 % Vol. 0.75 l is an expressive red wine from the Languedoc region that impressively combines elegance, power and the Mediterranean soul of the south of France. This wine comes from the sun-drenched slopes of the historic La Clape appellation, a former island massif in the immediate vicinity of the Mediterranean. The region is now one of the most exciting terroirs in France and produces wines with a particularly strong character thanks to the ideal combination of chalky soils, sea breezes and dryness.
In the 2023 vintage, the LA CLAPE An1650 is in excellent form. The cuvée, mostly dominated by Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, reflects Gérard Bertrand's philosophy: biodynamic cultivation, gentle vinification and uncompromising pursuit of quality. With its deep flavour, powerful structure and a long, elegant finish, this French red wine is an ideal companion for special moments of enjoyment. Tasting Note
In the glass, the Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 is a deep dark ruby red with violet reflections. The bouquet is intense and multi-layered, characterised by ripe black fruit, dark cherries, fine spice, liquorice and subtle roasted aromas. Powerful and structured on the palate with ripe tannins, complex depth and a long, velvety finish that reveals nuances of chocolate, garrigue herbs and dark berry fruit.
The Gérard Bertrand LA CLAPE An1650 is the ideal wine for special evenings, festive dinners, gourmet menus or autumnal moments of pleasure. Its structure and flavour make it an excellent accompaniment to grilled beef, lamb chops, braised game or duck breast. It also unfolds its full potential with strong Mediterranean dishes with herbs, ratatouille or mature hard cheese. In modern cuisine, it can be combined with truffle risotto, braised aubergine or dark chocolate sauce with game birds. Ideally served at approx. 16-18 °C - preferably carafed 30 minutes in advance.
