The Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve Malt Whisky 46% vol. 0.7 l + GB is an outstanding representative of Japanese distilling art and an example of the perfect combination of tradition and innovation. Produced under the direction of master distiller and blender Kimio Yonezawa, this whisky is made at the renowned Kaikyō Distillery on the Japanese coast of Akashi. The Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve is composed from a carefully selected range of the finest malt whiskies and then refined in three different types of cask - a complex maturation process that gives it its exceptional depth and balance.


The whisky is first matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which give the whisky its basic structure, warmth and aromatic richness. It is then matured for a further six months in barrels of the fine Akashi-Tai Umeshu Plum Sake liqueur - a rare and elaborate refinement that is only practised in this form in Japan. This finish gives the Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve subtle fruity notes and a fine, natural sweetness that harmonises perfectly with the mild spiciness of the wood. The whisky is bottled in Japan at an alcohol content of 46% vol. in order to preserve its complexity and aromatic purity unadulterated.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold with warm reflections.

Nose: Spicy oak, black tea and fresh orange peel.

Flavour: Elegant with notes of oak, dried citrus fruit and sweet ume plums.
