Description
The Strathmill 12 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is an exclusive bottling from the renowned Speyside region of Scotland. With an alcohol content of 43% vol. and a maturation period of 12 years in selected oak casks, this whisky epitomises the typical, fruity and smooth character of Speyside distillates. Strathmill is a lesser-known but highly regarded distillery that is particularly famous for its subtle and elegant whiskies. This bottling is part of the Flora & Fauna series, a collection of rare Scotch whiskies that emphasise the unique character of smaller distilleries.
The Strathmill 12 Years is characterised by its harmonious balance between sweet and spicy flavours. Its maturation in ex-bourbon casks gives it a creamy vanilla flavour that combines beautifully with subtle fruity nuances and light herbal notes. Thanks to its medium-long, smooth finish, it is a real treat for whisky novices and connoisseurs alike.
Tasting Note
Colour: A bright gold that reflects the ageing in American oak barrels.
Nose: Fresh and fruity with notes of green apples, pears and citrus fruits. This is accompanied by subtle honey and vanilla flavours as well as a hint of malt and fresh mint.
Flavour: Smooth and balanced with a sweet honey note accompanied by vanilla, malt and fine herbs. Slightly spicy oak and a hint of almonds give it depth and elegance.
Finish: Medium-long, soft and pleasantly dry with a fine, nutty sweetness and a subtle spiciness that slowly fades away.
The Strathmill 12 Years Old is a wonderful whisky to enjoy on its own, as it develops its fine, fruity flavours particularly well without the addition of water. If you want to combine it with food, it is an excellent accompaniment to mild cheeses, buttery pastries or dark chocolate. Alternatively, it goes well with light fish dishes or a creamy dessert such as panna cotta. For connoisseurs who like to experiment, it is also suitable as a base for elegant whisky cocktails such as a classic Rob Roy or a whisky highball. A real insider tip for Speyside fans!
