Saint James XO Rhum Vieux Agricole is a premium rum from the historic Saint James distillery in Sainte Marie, Martinique. Produced from fresh sugarcane juice, this rum embodies the essence of Caribbean craftsmanship. The Saint James Company grows most of the sugar cane required on its own plantations to ensure the highest quality. After fermentation – which lasts 24 to 36 hours and converts all the sugar into alcohol – the rum is distilled, giving it its unrivalled character.

The resulting rum, with an alcohol content of 75 % vol., is left to rest for half a year in stainless steel tanks. During this phase, unwanted flavour compounds and carbon dioxide are released, resulting in a harmonious and balanced aroma. Saint James XO Rhum Vieux Agricole is a blend that is aged for between six and ten years in small oak casks. This long ageing period gives it exceptional depth and complexity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright gold with deep amber highlights.

Nose: Intense and elegant, with notes of dried fruit, vanilla, toffee and a hint of spices. A subtle woody note rounds off the bouquet.

Palate: Full-bodied and smooth, characterised by caramel, dark chocolate, ripe fruit and gentle toasted notes. A hint of spice and floral nuances lend it a special sophistication.

Finish: Long and warm, with lingering flavours of oak, vanilla and dried fruit.

Saint James XO Rhum Vieux Agricole is best enjoyed neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate the complexity of its flavours. It pairs wonderfully with dark chocolate, desserts featuring caramel or exotic fruits, and is an excellent accompaniment to a fine cigar. It can also be used as a luxurious ingredient in classic cocktails such as a ‘Rum Old Fashioned’ or a ‘Mai Tai’, elevating them to a whole new level of flavour.
