For Admiral Rodney HMS FORMIDABLE, molasses-based distillates produced in a Coffey column still are used. These distillates are specifically sourced from the lower sections of the distillation column, resulting in particularly heavy, oily and aromatic fractions. Following distillation, the individual rums are aged for between nine and twelve years in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. St Lucia’s tropical climate, with its high temperatures and high humidity, intensifies the interaction between the wood and the distillate and promotes exceptional maturation. The Master Blender then blends rums from various casks of these age groups to create a harmonious premium blended rum that combines strength, elegance and complexity.

Tasting Note

Colour: Deep mahogany with amber highlights.

Nose: Ripe bananas, dark chocolate and oak, accompanied by dried fruit, molasses and a subtle hint of leather.

Palate: Full-bodied and oily with toffee, roasted nuts, dark fruits, cocoa, spicy oak and subtle notes of tobacco.

Finish: Long-lasting with dry woody spice, dark chocolate, delicate spices and a slightly smoky note.
