In the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles is the third generation to run the traditional family fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Federal College for Wine and Fruit Growing in Klosterneuburg, he dedicated himself to refining his parents' harvest of apples, pears, plums and peaches. He began distilling fine brandies in 1979, followed by the founding of his high-quality vinegar factory in 1984. Today, the range includes around twenty fine brandies and just as many types of vinegar, which are regularly recognised.

Ruotker's RUEDIGER II matures in five different barrels and is made from a variety of five grains: Corn, rye, barley, spelt and wheat. The whiskey is produced in Styria, Austria, near the historic Riegersburg castle, which was built on an extinct volcano. The grain required for the whiskey also comes from this region. The name RUEDIGER refers to Rüdiger von Hohenberg, who established a base at Riegersburg Castle in 1122 to protect the local population.

Tasting Note

Nose: Soft, dark chocolate, corn, wheat, notes of caramel popcorn.

Taste: Strong, spices, barley, spelt, rye, notes of coffee, roasted flavours.

Finish: Langs, spicy rye.
