The Don Papa Baroko is a tribute to Philippine history and the hero Don Papa, one of the lesser-known but significant leaders of the Philippine revolution. As a foreman on a sugar cane plantation, he joined the fight for his country's independence and led his countrymen to drive the conquerors out of his homeland. Inspired by this courage, this exceptional rum comes from the island of Negros, one of the most fertile regions of the Philippine archipelago.

Made from high-quality sugar cane grown on nutrient-rich volcanic soil, Don Papa Baroko undergoes a careful distillation process before maturing in oak barrels. Only the best and most valuable barrels are selected for this special rum in order to perfectly bring out the intense fruit and vanilla flavours. The result is an exceptional rum with a gentle sweetness and a multi-layered spiciness that honours the spirit of the revolutionaries of yesteryear.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright amber with golden reflections.

Nose: Rich and inviting with notes of vanilla, candied fruit and honey, accompanied by subtle roasted flavours from the barrel ageing.

Flavour: Silky and full-bodied with a harmonious balance of sweet caramel, tropical fruit and a gentle spiciness of oak and nutmeg.

Finish: Langs and pleasantly warm, with lingering notes of vanilla, honey and a light, spicy depth.

Don Papa Baroko is ideal for pure enjoyment, where its sweet and spicy notes come into their own. It can be enjoyed neat or on ice, but also reveals its exotic side in cocktails such as a rum sour or a Mai Tai. It goes particularly well with dark chocolate, caramelised nuts or a dessert with vanilla and tropical fruit.
