The Koshi-No Shinobu Pure Malt Whisky Mizunara Oak Finish 43% Vol. 0.7 l + GB is an exceptional Japanese whisky known for its harmonious balance between fruitiness, spice and the unique characteristics of Mizunara oak. The Shinobu Whisky Distillery in Niigata Prefecture, a region famous for its pure water sources and ideal climate for whisky production, uses traditional craftsmanship combined with innovative maturation for this whisky.

As a pure malt whisky, this bottling consists exclusively of malt whiskies that are first matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. It is then finished in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, which are known for their rare and porous wood structure. This gives the whisky a fine, spicy complexity with notes of sandalwood, incense and exotic spices. The alcohol content of 43% vol. ensures a pleasant intensity without overpowering the soft character of the whisky, which is bottled without artificial colouring.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber colour with warm reflections.

Nose: Vanilla, honey, dried fruit, a hint of exotic spices, floral nuances and sandalwood.

Taste: Soft, complex, with notes of caramel, ripe apples, roasted almonds, spicy oak and fine roasted flavours.

Finish: Long-lasting, gently spicy, with notes of mizunara wood, pepper and a hint of dark chocolate.

The Koshi-No Shinobu Pure Malt Mizunara Oak Finish is perfect to enjoy on its own or with a few drops of water to intensify its complex flavours. It harmonises ideally with dark chocolate, roasted nuts or Asian desserts such as matcha mochi. It also offers an exquisite flavour experience with grilled fish, sushi or mild cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
