Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 is an outstanding single malt whisky that captures the unadulterated essence of the Scottish island of Islay. Produced by the renowned Bruichladdich Distillery, this whisky reflects the deep connection to the island and its agricultural traditions. It has been distilled exclusively from barley from eight local farms - including Cruach, Craigens, Island, Dunlossit, Coull, Rockside, Sunderland and Mulindry Farms. All of these farms are located within a 15-mile radius of the distillery, emphasising the importance of regionality and terroir. The barley was harvested in 2013 and distilled in 2014 to bring out the natural flavours of the region.

The seven-year maturation was carried out in a precisely matched combination of high-quality casks, which give the whisky its remarkable complexity and depth:

- 84% in first-fill bourbon casks - for sweet vanilla, caramel and honey notes.

- 8% in second-fill virgin oak casks - for a distinctive spiciness and strong oak nuances.

- 8% in second-fill Bordeaux wine casks - for fine fruity flavours and an elegant structure.

This unique cask combination ensures a perfect balance between smoky intensity, sweet malt notes and fruity elegance, making the Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2014 an exceptional representative of the Heavily Peated Whiskies.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright gold with warm reflections.

Nose: A seductive interplay of malty biscuit notes and gentle peat smoke, complemented by sweet vanilla, honey, toffee and a hint of crème brûlée.

Taste: A fascinating interplay of citrus flavours, harmoniously balanced with gentle peat smoke, followed by notes of apricot, peach and ripe melon.

Finish: A wonderfully balanced finish with Langs of stone fruit and toasted oak, accompanied by a lingering hint of Port Charlotte's characteristic barbecue smoke.
