There are two types of whiskey that are primarily associated with the USA: Bourbon and rye. The latter refers to whiskey that is made from rye. It clearly stands out from its peers from Europe and has been perfected by some of America's long-established distilleries. The Koval Distillery is still quite young. When it opened in 2008, it was the first whiskey distillery to go into operation in Chicago after Prohibition.

The single barrel rye whisky is made from unmalted organic rye. This bottling is matured in American oak casks and receives a finish in a maple syrup cask.

The bottling is neither coloured nor chill-filtered.

Flavour: Harmonious, slightly tart, fresh, notes of candied fruit, butterscotch, hints of grated coconut, maple syrup.

Finish: Langs, spicy.
