The Deanston 10 Years Old Highland Single Malt Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish is a special bottling from the traditional Deanston Distillery, which is located in a former cotton mill dating back to 1785. Since switching to whisky production in 1966, Deanston has made a name for itself for handcrafted, unpeated Highland whisky.

This single malt is first matured in classic ex-bourbon oak casks, which give it a solid base of vanilla and malt flavours. It is then finished in Bordeaux red wine casks, which gives the whisky additional fruity depth and complex tannins from the French red wine casks. This maturation gives it a beautiful balance between sweet fruitiness, light spice and fine wood notes. With an alcohol content of 46.3% vol., no chill-filtration and no colouring, this whisky retains its natural purity and depth.

Tasting Note

Colour: Bright gold with reddish reflections.

Nose: Aromas of red berries, dark cherries and vanilla, accompanied by fine oak notes.

Flavour: Full-bodied with a harmonious blend of sweet fruits, creamy caramel, spicy oak and a hint of spices.

Finish: Long-lasting, soft and fruity with subtle tannins and a fine wood structure.

The Deanston 10 Years Old Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Finish is ideal for pure enjoyment, as it develops its complex flavours best at room temperature. It goes perfectly with dark chocolate, mature cheese or berry desserts, which emphasise its fruity and spicy notes. Alternatively, it makes an elegant base for a whisky sour with a red wine twist or a Boulevardier to emphasise its red wine maturation in style.
