Stauning HØST Double Malt Danish Whisky 40.5% vol. 0.7 litre is a modern Danish whisky that impressively embodies the artisanal philosophy of Stauning Distillery. The distillery is located on the west coast of Denmark, where the harsh coastal climate, local grain fields and maritime environment shape the character of this special Danish whisky. The name HØST, Danish for harvest, refers to the close connection to the origin of the raw materials and the regional terroir. This double malt whisky is composed of equal parts single malt whisky and malted rye whisky, combining a classic malt structure with the spicy depth of rye. The barley and rye grain used comes from regional cultivation and is 100% traditionally malted on malt floors at the distillery, which gives this Stauning Danish whisky a particularly authentic and characterful base.

Distillation takes place twice in 24 small, direct-fired copper pot stills, resulting in a particularly flavoursome and smooth whisky. Stauning HØST Double Malt Danish Whisky is then matured in a combination of heavily charred new American oak casks, first-fill bourbon casks and a proportion of port casks, which lend additional fruitiness and depth. The result is a soft, fruity and floral whisky that has been deliberately designed to be accessible and appeals to both beginners and experienced whisky lovers. This bottling is bottled at 40.5% vol. and the whisky is not chill-filtered, which preserves its structure and flavour density. The new bottle and label design reflects typical Danish minimalism and has also been made more sustainable by using less glass and materials.

Tasting Note

Colour: Warm gold.

Nose: Fruity and floral with malt, ripe fruit, honey and fine cereal notes.

Flavour: Soft and balanced with vanilla, caramel, malty sweetness, light fruitiness and gentle spice.

Finish: Medium length, round and elegant with fruity and malty flavours.
