The Ron Zacapa Centenario Solera Gran Reserva is an iconic Guatemalan rum that is matured using the traditional sistema solera method, giving it its harmonious, multi-layered structure. Only virgin sugar cane honey is used for this bottling, a particularly pure sugar cane juice concentrate that gives the rum its soft sweetness and aromatic depth. The distillates are matured in a combination of ex-bourbon, sherry and Pedro Ximénez casks at various ages to create a balanced overall picture. The maturation process takes place in the highlands of Guatemala at an altitude of over 2,300 metres, where the cooler climate favours a particularly slow, controlled development.
