Since its foundation in 1822, the Fonseca brand has stood for excellent port wine and has established itself as a synonym for exceptional quality. With more than two centuries of experience, Fonseca combines traditional winemaking skills with a spirit of innovation and a deep understanding of port winemaking. Production takes place in the renowned vineyards of the Douro Valley in Portugal, considered one of the oldest and most prestigious wine regions in the world. The unique terroir is characterised by steep slopes and mineral-rich soils, which shape the taste of the port wines.

Fonseca Porto Tawny Port matures over a period of three years in small oak barrels with a capacity of around 630 litres. During the ageing process, the port wine develops its characteristic colour - from a deep ruby red to a warm, golden brown tone.

The barrel ageing gives it a soft, balanced structure and emphasises its mild, rounded character.

Tasting Note

Nose: Sweet, fruity, velvety apricots, ripe plums, spicy nuances, creamy butterscotch.

Flavour: Multi-layered, notes of jam, pleasant acidity.

Finish: Langs on the palate.

Excellent as a dessert wine and unfolds its flavours especially in combination with dark chocolate, almonds and ripe berries.
