The Koval Wheat Single Barrel Whiskey 55% Vol. 0.5 litre is an outstanding example of modern American whiskey art from the Koval Distillery in Chicago. This independent craft distillery was founded in 2008 and is now regarded as a pioneer in the field of organically produced whiskeys. Only wheat is used for this exceptional single barrel - a grain that is rather rare in whiskey production, resulting in a particularly smooth, almost creamy character.


As with all Koval brand products, the raw materials are 100% organic. Distillation is carried out in small batches, whereby only the so-called "heart cut" - i.e. the purest and highest quality part of the distillate - is processed further. The water used comes from Lake Michigan and is filtered with charcoal before processing to guarantee absolute purity. The whiskey is then matured for around four years in newly burnt oak barrels from Minnesota, which gives it a pleasant depth and flavour.


As the name suggests, each bottling of Koval Wheat Single Barrel comes from a single barrel, giving each bottle an individual, unmistakable character. It is neither coloured nor filtered to preserve its pure, authentic flavour.

Tasting Note

Colour: Light gold.

Nose: Fresh notes of vanilla, banana and sweet cereals.

Flavour: Soft, creamy and round with impressions of caramel, banana, shortbread and a little honey.

Finish: Langs, slightly spicy and elegantly sweet with a fine woody note.

Koval Wheat Single Barrel Whiskey is best enjoyed neat or with a drop of water at room temperature. It goes perfectly with mild cigars, creamy desserts such as crème brûlée or banoffee pie, and harmonises just as well with nuts or dark chocolate. It also shows its fine balance between sweetness and spice as a noble component in a whiskey sour or old fashioned.
