The maceration process can take anywhere from several weeks to several months. After maceration, the mixture is filtered and often sweetened with sugar, honey or syrup before being left to mature for a period of time to allow the flavours to harmonise.

Amaro is extremely versatile and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or in a wide variety of cocktails. Classic cocktails such as the Negroni, the Boulevardier and the Americano owe their distinctive flavour to Amaro.
