The Ardbeg AN OA Islay Single Malt is an expressive Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 46.6 per cent in a 0.7-litre bottle and presented in a high-quality gift box. Named after the remote An Oa peninsula on Islay, this bottling offers a softer yet more multifaceted interpretation of the classic Ardbeg style. It is matured in lightly charred new oak casks, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and ex-bourbon casks. The various cask components are then blended in the specially developed ‘Gathering Vat’, creating a particularly harmonious overall profile. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration, thus preserving its natural character. At the 2019 International Whisky Competition, the Ardbeg AN OA won three gold medals – for Best Single Malt NAS, Best Islay Single Malt and Best Peated Whisky.


Compared to the Ardbeg Ten, the AN OA is slightly more fruity and spicy, without sacrificing the characteristic Islay peat smoke. The different cask types lend the whisky additional depth and ensure a balanced blend of smoke, sweetness and spice. This makes this bottling ideal for both long-standing Ardbeg enthusiasts and connoisseurs seeking a harmonious and multi-layered peated single malt.

Tasting Note

Colour: Golden amber.

Nose: Soft fruity notes, subtle peaty smoke, tobacco spice, orange, citrus fruits and milk chocolate.

Palate: Spicy and sweet with chocolate cream, oaky notes, soft fruity notes and robust peaty smoke.

Finish: Long-lasting, silky with subtle smoke, aniseed and malty notes.

The Ardbeg AN OA Islay Single Malt reveals its flavours best when enjoyed neat or with a few drops of still water. It pairs superbly with smoked salmon, BBQ ribs, mature Cheddar, blue cheese, dark chocolate or roasted nuts. The combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, bourbon casks, new oak casks and blending in the Gathering Vat gives this Islay single malt its balanced and complex character.
