The Octomore EDITION: 16.1 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt Release 2025 59.3% ABV 0.7 l is the latest addition to Bruichladdich’s legendary Octomore series and ranks among the world’s most intensely peated whiskies. The .1 bottlings are considered the purest expression of the respective vintage and showcase the unadulterated character of the raw material, distillation and cask maturation. For Edition 16.1, only 100% Scottish Concerto barley from the mainland was used. With an impressive phenol content of 101.4 PPM and five years’ maturation in first-fill bourbon casks, this Islay single malt Scotch whisky embodies the characteristic combination of powerful peaty smoke and surprising elegance.


The whisky was distilled in 2019 from the 2018 barley harvest. Despite its enormous peat content, the Octomore 16.1 displays a remarkable balance between smoke, fruit and sweetness. Maturation in fresh bourbon casks lends it additional complexity and creates a multi-layered interplay of aromas, including vanilla, honey, fruit and maritime notes. This Super Heavily Peated Edition is bottled at a robust 59.3% ABV, without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring. Tasting Note

Colour: Deep gold.

Nose: Sea breeze, orchard fruits, delicate peat smoke, heather, chamomile, vanilla, roasted almonds, cedarwood, paprika and hints of iodine.

Palate: Intense yet elegant peat smoke with salted caramel, honeydew melon, apricots, malt sugar, cinnamon, star anise, toffee, chocolate, coconut and mineral notes.

Finish: Very long-lasting with peat smoke, black pepper, toffee, sea salt and maritime spice.

The Octomore 16.1 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt is excellent for drinking neat and should ideally be savoured after a little time in the glass or with a few drops of water.
