• Springbank: One of Scotland’s last family-run distilleries, founded in 1828. Renowned for its traditional production methods (entirely in-house – from malting to bottling) and three distinct styles: Springbank, Hazelburn (triple-distilled) and Longrow (heavily peated).
• Glen Scotia: Founded in 1832, it is now known for its maritime-fruity whiskies with a delicate salty and spicy profile. Since the 2000s, it has introduced a new product range and enjoyed growing international recognition.
• Glengyle: Revived in 2000 after decades of inactivity. Produces the Kilkerran Single Malt – artisanal, complex, with smoky and fruity notes.

In the 19th century, Campbeltown was the epicentre of the Scottish whisky world, with over 30 distilleries. The combination of an ideal location, high demand and exports – particularly to the USA – brought about an economic boom. However, the market collapsed due to overproduction, a decline in quality and US Prohibition. Only a few distilleries survived – among them Springbank and Glen Scotia. The recovery began slowly but was successfully driven forward by new investment, international demand and the reopening of Glengyle.

Whiskies from this region offer a particularly distinctive experience. Typical flavours include salty sea air, smoke, dried fruit, earthy peat notes and a subtle sweetness. This diversity stems from traditional production methods, the regional microclimate and the proximity to the coast.
