Gosset Champagne comes from a venerable house that likes to advertise itself as the oldest house in Champagne - and quite rightly so. The roots of the Gosset champagne house go back to 1584. Back then, founding father Pierre Gosset worked in a wine trading house in Aÿ. There was no sparkling wine back then, which is why Gosset made a name for itself with red and white wines from Aÿ and was highly regarded at the royal court of Henri III. Today, Gosset Champagne enjoys an excellent reputation all over the world. Its success is due in particular to its characteristic style.
The basis of Gosset Champagne lies in the dedicated care of the grapes. Over 200 winegrowers from 60 villages are under contract with Gosset. The long-term relationships with the winegrowers are characterized by mutual loyalty and appreciation. Jean-Pierre Mareigner, who has been cellar master at Gosset for 30 years, visits the plots personally every year and checks the health of the grapes.
For Gosset Champagne, malolactic fermentation is stopped in order to preserve the fine acidity and apple aroma and thus bring the original freshness of the wine to the bottle. Once in the cellars, the Gosset Champagne is aged on the lees for at least 3 years, thus clearly exceeding the required minimum ageing period of 15 months. This gives the sparkling wine its fruity elegance and freshness at full maturity.
