In 1886, William Grant founded the whisky company Grants and Sons in Dufftown, Scotland. The small town at the confluence of the Dullan Water and the River Fiddich has a population of less than 1700 - yet it holds the title of "World Capital of Malt Whisky". Nowhere else in Spyside are there more distilleries in one place. When Grant and Sons was founded, the saying "Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown stands on seven stills" was coined.
