Mackinlay's is a quality Scottish blend that is well represented in Scotland, Europe, East Asia and many other markets around the world. It is the name of an important Scottish company that was founded by Charles Mackinlay in Leith in 1815 and was one of the pioneers of blending. The company was passed down from father to son over several generations and historically worked very successfully with various partners such as the McPhersons or the Birnies and with the distilleries Glennallachie, Glen Albyn and Isle of Jura in the blending and distilling business. Mackinlay's has been popular for a long time, with the brand history proudly noting that the British-Irish polar explorer Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton (1874-1922) took ten cases of Mackinlay's with him on his Antarctic expedition in 1908. As a tribute to the famous polar explorer, the multi-award-winning Mackinlay's Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 40% vol. 0.7l is presented here as a special blended malt Scotch whisky based on a Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky. Mackinlay's Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch Whisky is best enjoyed over a little ice and offers wonderful flavours with caramelized apples, toffee, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger on the nose, sweet dried fruit and brown sugar on the palate, as well as chocolate and a hint of smoke on the long finish.
