Scapa is a traditional distillery on the Scottish Orkney Islands, founded in 1885. Known for its handcrafted production and uniquely smooth character, Scapa produces single malt whiskies with fruity and honeyed notes - a rarity among Island malts.
The distillery is located on the banks of Scapa Flow, a natural bay near Kirkwall. The remote location and the maritime climate shape the character of the whisky and give it a special depth.
Scapa is one of the last manually operated distilleries in Scotland. Distillation takes place in a unique Lomond wash still, which ensures a fruitier New Make spirit. Maturation takes place exclusively in first-fill American oak casks, which give the whisky its soft vanilla and honey notes.
Scapa's bottles have an elegant design that emphasizes the whisky's maritime origins and craftsmanship. The packaging reflects the colors and textures of the Orkney landscape.
Scapa attaches great importance to sustainable production and uses water from the nearby Lingro Burn spring. The distillery relies on traditional methods and does not use artificial additives.
