The Darkness Whisky brand name refers to a series of independent bottlings that receive their special and aromatic finish during their maturation in small 50-liter sherry octave casks. These casks are specially made for maturing Darkness Whisky and are also responsible for the exclusive, dark coloration of the spirit. This is because the smaller surface area means that colors and aromas are released more quickly than with normal whisky cask maturation. This creates a dark, fruity and spicy aroma that cannot be found anywhere else. The maturation period varies depending on the variety and is between five and 24 years. In addition, each variety comes from a different Scottish distillery and has its very own characteristic notes.
The name Darkness Whisky is of course partly due to the dark color of the aromatic whisky, but also to the deep and mysterious aroma. The notes of dried fruit, but also those of dark chocolate and oriental spices are particularly prominent.
The innovative Darkness Whisky range belongs to Atom Brands, which has already made a name for itself with other independent bottlings.
