Der Worthy Park 109 ist ein weiterer Vertreter der extrem dunkel gefärbten Rums wie Pusser's (40% & Gunpowder), Black Seal, Coruba Dark, Wood's, Myers und Konsorten. Diese Rums sind mit Farbstoff nachgefärbt, ihnen wird durch ihre dunkle Farbe stets eine gewisse Karamell-und Vanillenote nachgesagt, wodurch sich fabelhafte Rum-Colas mixen lassen. 109 steht beim Worthy Park für "Proof" und ist eine alte Art, Alkoholstärke anzugeben. Proof ist immer das doppelte der Volumenprozente, demnach hat dieser Kollege wuchtige 54,5% Vol. Anders als die oben genannten dunklen Rums ist Worthy Park jedoch eine Destille auf Jamaica und bringt hier noch den gewissen Funk mit. Geschmacklich ist er wie der große Bruder des Myers's Original Dark, ebenfalls ein dunkler Jamaikaner, jedoch mit 40% Vol.
Der Rum riecht nach Vanille, angebranntem Karamell und Rosinen. Hinter dem ganzen hat man einen Hauch von Funk, reife Früchte und vergorene Banane wabern hinter den süßen Karamelltönen.
Geschmacklich ist er, trotz der 54,5% Vol. überraschend weich. Esther und vergorenes Obst reiht sich an Karamell und schwarzem Tee mit Milch.
Nicht vergessen: Man bekommt hier einen ganzen Liter für ca. 25€!
Dieser Rum ist ein absoluter Pflichtkauf für alle, die gerne Rum-Cola trinken. Auch in vielen tropischen Cocktails wie dem Mai Tai oder dem Jungle Bird oder dem Zombie ist er super.

Mit dem 109 proof hat Worthy park echt mal einen rausgehauen! Pur im Glas offenbart der 109 einen ganzen Korb an Südfrüchten, auch Banane, Malz und Holz kommen in der Nase an. Mit seinen fast 55% vol. Ist es verständlich dass auch der Alkohol die Nasenschleimhäute begrüßt. Beim trinken folgen Esternoten ohne Ende, hier zeigt die Destillerie was sie aus den pot stills rausholt!
Habe den Rum bislang mit Cola und als Dark'n Stormy probiert, hier zeigt er in beiden Fällen seine Bestleistung, allerdings gefällt er mir wie so viele Jamaika Rums pur am besten, da er ein so breites Aromenspektrum bietet wie sonst keiner in dieser Preisklasse. Für 30€/L ist er mehr als empfehlenswert, dazu noch vielseitig zu verwenden.
Der einzige Minuspunkt, der allerdings meine Bewertung nicht schmälert ist der enthaltene Farbstoff auf den man hatte gerne verzichten können.
