Description
The Winkler-Hermaden Olivin 2021 is an expressive red wine from south-eastern Styria that is one of the top wines from the traditional Winkler-Hermaden winery. With its impressive size of 3 liters in a noble wooden box, it presents itself as a wine for special occasions and festive moments. The 33rd vintage of this exceptional wine is based on the Blauer Zweigelt grape variety, which thrives on the mineral-rich soils around the Kapfensteiner Kogel. Named after the semi-precious stone olivine, which is found as an inclusion in the basalt rock of this region, this wine is a symbol of the connection between earth, wood and vines - a truly unique terroir.
The grapes were carefully harvested by hand from September 23 to 29, 2020 and, after gentle vinification, matured into a wine that impresses with its finesse and power. The wine was matured for 24 months in Kapfenstein oak barriques, giving the Olivin its distinctive spiciness, depth and structure. It was bottled on May 25, 2023 and has been available since September 1, 2023.
