This rum stands for the unmistakable taste and aromatic elegance that made Jamaican rum famous in the late 19th and early 20th century. It contains only pot still distillates of the Wedderburn and Plummer style.
Smith & Cross is a blend with approximately equal shares of Wedderburn, which matured for at least one year, and Plummer, which matured in white oak between 18 months and three years. This variety does not necessarily benefit from longer maturation periods, as oak can overpower the fruity and spicy notes and thus weaken the aromas over time.

Habe mir den Smith&Cross vor vielen Jahren mal gekauft und hatte damals die selbe Meinung wie viele Leute die den Rum schlecht bewerten und mit ihm nix anfangen können. Habe mich im laufe der Jahre immer mehr mit Traditionellen Jamaica Rums angefreundet, jetzt wieder gekauft und Bumm!!! Der Smith&Cross ist genau das was ich möchte, und sehr vielseitig einsetzbar, auch der unverdünnte purgenuss ist für mich mittlerweile kein Problem mehr, hier bekommt man die besten Jamaica Rum Eindrücke. Rum Rosinen, Vanille, Früchte ohne Ende durch Esternoten, Pflaumen, Melasse und sogar eine leichte Süße. Trotz den 57% Vol. traumhaft weich, der Alkohol ist sehr gut eingebunden und brennt um einiges weniger als mein Hampden Overproof mit 60% Vol.
Für jeden Jamaica Rum Liebhaber und jeden der es werden möchte, meine uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung, vorallem bei dem Preis!

Eine Geschmacksexplosion die ihres gleiche sucht! Unverdünnt fast nicht auszuhalten so vielschichtig und intensiv sind die Geschmäcker. Drückt jedem cocktail seinen eigenen stempel auf... Was ganz und gar nichts schlechtes ist!

Ein ganz klassischer Typ: dezenter, milder und doch fruchtiger Jamaica Rum völlig frei vom in Deutschland erwarteten Aldehyd-Geschmack. Nur vergleichbar mit gutem Calvados und Malt Whiskies: also in seiner Milde bestens geeignet für den puren Genuss.

Im schwarzen Tee mit Milch göttlich, als Aufwerter in Cocktails ebenso, riecht man an der Flasche, möchte man ihn am Liebsten kauen! Ein hocharomatischer Rum, der leider einen Tick zu stark ist, um ihn pur zu trinken. Topp-RUM!!!

Zum mixen von Cocktails die Nr. 1 - Rum Aroma wie vor 100 Jahren als Ester und andere "unerwünschte" Verbindungen noch nicht so perfekt aus dem Brand eleminiert wurden.
Schmeckt noch nach Pulverdampf und Kanonen :-)
Zusammen mit O.V.D oder Lemon Heart 151 sowie J.Wray&Nephew Overproof die Grundausstattung einer ordentlichen Rumbar.
