Masahiro Distillery, founded in 1883 by Shobun Higa, combines traditional awamori production with modern innovation. As Okinawa's first distillery with ISO 9001 certification, Masahiro today produces award-winning pure malt whisky and Okinawa Craft Gin.
Located in Itoman, in the subtropical south of Okinawa, Masahiro benefits from mineral-rich soils and a unique climate. These conditions shape the character of its spirits.
Masahiro Pure Malt Whisky matures for three years in sherry and bourbon barrels and is finished in Jack Daniel's first-fill bourbon barrels. The Okinawa Gin is based on Awamori and is distilled in two traditional pot stills, which gives it a distinctive aroma.
The elegant bottles with Japanese calligraphy reflect the combination of tradition and modernity and underline the high quality of the spirits.
Masahiro emphasizes sustainable production and is the first Okinawa distillery with ISO 9001 certification for quality management.
Masahiro has won several international awards, including gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021 for the Pure Malt Whisky and bronze at the World Gin Award 2020 for the Okinawa Gin.
