Mhoba Rum is a handcrafted rum from South Africa that is produced entirely in-house, from growing the sugar cane to bottling. Founder Robert Greaves, a mechanical engineer, built the entire distillery himself and attaches great importance to traditional production methods.
The Mhoba distillery is located in Malelane, Mpumalanga, on the edge of the Kruger National Park. The Nkomazi sugar cane grown there is cultivated and processed on the distillery's own farm.
Mhoba Rum is made from fresh sugar cane juice, which is fermented without the addition of water or industrial yeast. Distillation takes place in self-built pot stills and maturation takes place in various barrels such as French oak or former wine barrels.
The bottles of Mhoba Rum are characterized by a minimalist design that underlines the artisanal character and authenticity of the rum.
Mhoba attaches great importance to sustainability and only uses sugar cane from its own cultivation. Production takes place in small batches to ensure the highest quality.
