The water used to make the rum is not fed from underground aquifers, but through a proprietary mountain water collection system, returning only clean water to the land after use.
The longer fermentation is done with natural yeasts. Hampden Estate is one of the last distilleries still producing its rums in batches; it currently has four operational stills.
Hampden rums are produced, aged and bottled without any additives, added sugar, tannins, caramel or glycerine.
Rum Fire is a pure Jamaican single rum, with an ester content of 300 to 500 grams and thus belongs to the LROK category.
The basis is the molasses used, and the distillation in the pot still deepens the tropical aromas even further, resulting in an amazingly intense overproof rum.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Clear.
Nose: Fruity, overripe bananas, mangoes, pineapple, full-bodied spices, green olives, smoke.
Taste: Intense, spicy, notes of pepper, overripe tropical fruits.
Finish: Long lasting, balanced.
Dieses Destilat ist für Feuer-Akrobaten zugedacht. Schmeckt pur oder verdünnt eher seifig. Jede andere Empfehlung ist micht wahr, denn bitte nicht trinken, es schmeckt gar nicht.

Der reine Wahnsinn. Ich hätte mir nie gedacht dass ein weißer Rum eine solche Aromenvielfalt mitbringen kann. Der Rum Fire ist einfach nur ein Traum eines jeden Jamaica Rum liebhabers, fruchtige Noten, rauch, Oliven, Lack... Ananas sowie andere tropische Früchte vereinen sich zu einem Trinkerlebnis höchster Güte. 63% Alkohol? Wo? Der white Overproof brennt, aber nur beim anzünden, beim trinken merkt man die Volumen nicht. Am Gaumen setzen sich die Aromen fort, am Anfang dieses raue Aroma des weißen Rum, kurz darauf ein leichtes brennen des Alkohols und im Abgang ein unendliches, fruchtiges Finish. Mir würde auf anhieb kein Cocktail einfallen in dem ich diesen geilen Tropfen "verschwende". Für mich ein besonderer Purgenuss.
