This special bottling has been matured exclusively in European sherry oak casks, expertly selected by The Macallan Whisky Maker from an extensive stock. The Tevasa oak casks used have been seasoned with sherry and reflect Mackintosh's time in Europe. They give the whisky a complex interplay of flavors with notes of raisins, figs, burnished oak, cherry blossom, almonds, oranges and sweet syrup.
The combination of first-fill and second-fill casks provides depth and balance: while the first-fill casks deliver strong, woody notes, the second-fill casks bring out finer, floral fruit nuances - including cherry, apple and orange, all fruits that carry their own flowers.
