This bottling is created by blending selected single malts from five different cask types, resulting in a smooth yet complex Islay single malt Scotch whisky. The maturation includes whiskies from Oloroso sherry casks, Pedro Ximénez hogsheads, ex-bourbon casks and first-fill ex-quarter casks and is finished in new American oak casks (virgin oak), a rare wood source for Scotch whisky. This wide range of casks gives the Laphroaig SELECT its layered appearance and balanced character.
