In 1996, visionary master blender Alexandre Gabriel set out to create the ultimate gin. After a long search, he discovered an old recipe that had been forgotten over the years - unjustly. The recipe spoke to Alexandre's soul and inspired him to create an artisanal gin in the old tradition.

At MAISON FERRAND, the botanicals are selected from carefully chosen sources. Juniper, for example, is grown in-house. With over 3 hectares of prime land at Château de Bonbonnet, the quality of its own juniper berries can be precisely controlled and ensured so that they are of the highest quality for CITADELLE Gin. Fresh citrus fruits are also extremely important for the gins, which is why these are also grown in the company's own orangery. This is not only heated with the waste heat from the distillery next door, but the juniper berries have also been 100% certified organic since 2023!
MAISON FERRAND is very committed to sustainability and regionality. They are proud of the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every bottle of gin. The special production method is also worth mentioning: a wheat distillate is mixed with a blend of aromatic botanicals (and fruits). The so-called "progressive infusion" is the secret here - each botanical is infused in the distillate for different lengths of time so that each can develop its unique flavor characteristics. This is the only patented infusion method to date. The liquid is then distilled to ensure that the final product is of the highest quality. During the distillation process, 9 pot stills are used, all of which are part of the in-house distillery "Distillerie de Bonbonnet".
