The origin of the "Grace Gin" brand can be found in Greece on the island of Euboea, right in the center of the capital of the island of Chalkida in the AVANTES Distillery founded by Vasileios Katsos in 1963. Since 2005, however, the family business has been run by the second generation of his daughters, who continue the family tradition of creating innovative products. The name "Grace Gin" is derived from the Greek word "Grace", which means "Three Graces". In Greek mythology, Grace stands for the three goddesses Aglaia, Thalia and Euphrosyne, who embody splendor, happiness and joy.
The three power women who are responsible for the production of Grace Gin at the AVANTES Distillery today also ensure that these attributes are reflected in Grace Gin with their extensive knowledge of the distillation craft. The Gin of the Three Graces is a dry gin which, unlike other gins, is not based on grain but on grapes. The 13 botanicals used, all of which come from Greek nature, and the double gentle distillation in a small batch by hand give the 45.7% Grace Gin its unique character.
This is evident as soon as the bottle is opened, when a wonderful bouquet of unobtrusive notes of juniper, flanked by elegant floral aromas and a hint of spices and herbs, rises to the nose. On the palate, the Grace presents itself with restrained juniper notes, giving space to the intense floral odeurs and the less intense herbal aromas. The fresh, harmonious and extremely feminine gin also comes across in the mouth with a gentle spiciness and lemony aromas. The finish of the Greek gin is gentle but long, which speaks for its high quality.
