Besserat de Bellefon - Champagne with style and history
Founded in 1843 in Aÿ by Edmond Besserat, the house quickly established itself as a supplier to the top Parisian gastronomy. It has borne the name Besserat de Bellefon since 1927, named after Edmond Besserat's marriage to Yvonne de Méric de Bellefon.
Region & origin
Today based in Épernay, the estate sources its grapes from its own vineyards in the Marne and from long-standing partners in over 100 municipalities. The main grape varieties are Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Production & craftsmanship
The "Cuvée des Moines", created by Victor Besserat in 1930, is characterized by a particularly fine perlage. This is achieved by reducing the dosage of "liqueur de tirage" and dispensing with malolactic fermentation, which gives the champagne a creamy texture and lively freshness.
Variety & highlights
- Bleu Brut: Classic cuvée with floral and fruity notes, ideal as an accompaniment to food.
- Rosé: Fruit-driven with aromas of red berries and fine spice.
- Blanc de Blancs: 100% Chardonnay, elegant and mineral.
- Extra Brut: Dry and precise, perfect with seafood.
- Millésimé: Vintage champagne with depth and complexity.
