Der Laphroaig PX Cask Triple Matured Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 48% ist eine komplexe Abfüllung, die durch ein außergewöhnliches Reifekonzept geprägt wird. Die Destillerie setzt hierfür auf eine dreifache Fassreife, bestehend aus ehemaligen Bourbonfässern, traditionellen Quarter Casks im Stil des 19. Jahrhunderts sowie einer abschließenden Reifungsphase in Pedro-Ximénez-Sherryfässern. Diese Kombination verleiht dem Single Malt eine vielschichtige Struktur, die die intensiven Torf- und Küstennoten von Laphroaig mit süßen und fruchtbetonten Elementen verbindet. Die offiziellen Angaben beschreiben den Whisky als vielschichtig, geprägt von fruchtigen Akzenten, einem Hauch Ingwer und der charakteristischen Rauchigkeit, die den Stil der Brennerei seit Generationen definiert.

Die Herstellung folgt weiterhin dem traditionellen Prozess der Brennerei: getorftes Gerstenmalz, Wasser aus dem Kilbride Stream, klassische Destillation und anschließend ein sorgfältig abgestimmtes Fassmanagement. Die Quarter Casks sorgen für eine besonders samtige Textur, während die abschließende Reifung in PX-Sherryfässern zusätzliche Tiefe, Schwere und eine reiche Süße einbringt. So entsteht ein Islay Single Malt, der die typischen Aromen von Torfrauch und Meeresalgen mit Noten von Rosinen, Sultaninen und Lakritze verbindet. Abgefüllt mit 48% und präsentiert in einer 1-Liter-Flasche, bietet der PX Cask eine lang anhaltend wirkende, harmonische Verbindung aus Rauch, Frucht und Holz.

Nase: Süß und rauchig, mit Sultaninen, Rosinen und feiner Lakritze.

Geschmack: Intensiver Torfrauch, Schichten von Eiche und schwerer Sherrysüße.

Abgang: Lang, trocken und geprägt von starkem Rauch und dichten Sherry-Holznoten.

Dieser Whisky harmoniert hervorragend mit kräftigen Speisen wie geräuchertem Lachs, würzigen Fleischgerichten oder intensiven Käsesorten, deren Aromen durch den Torfrauch und die schwere Sherryreife elegant unterstützt werden. Dunkle Schokolade, Früchtekuchen oder Desserts mit Datteln und Rosinen bieten eine passende süße Ergänzung, die die PX-typischen Fruchtnoten aufgreift. Als Solist eignet sich der Laphroaig PX Cask besonders für ruhige Genussmomente, pur oder mit einem Spritzer Wasser, um die marzipanartigen und fruchtigen Nuancen stärker hervorzubringen. Durch seine lang anhaltend wirkende Struktur bildet er zudem einen eindrucksvollen Abschluss nach einem herzhaften Menü.
