1975 begann Gérard Bertrand seine Weinlese im Château de Villemajou in den Corbières und entdeckte dort seine Leidenschaft für Wein. Über zwölf Jahre hinweg verfeinerte er seine Fähigkeiten neben seinem Vater Georges Bertrand, bis schließlich die vierte Generation das Erbe weiterführte. Nach dem tragischen Tod seines Vaters im Jahr 1987 übernahm Gérard Bertrand die Familienführung auf der Domaine de Villemajou und gründete die Weingesellschaft Gérard Bertrand. Die Gérard Bertrand Gruppe umfasst 16 Weingüter und 16 Schlösser entlang der Mittelmeerküste Frankreichs, die sich auf insgesamt 850 Hektar erstrecken. Ein Teil der von Hand geernteten Trauben reift in 225-l-Bordeaux-Fässern, während der andere Teil in Edelstahltanks gelagert wird.
Der Côte des Roses, eine Hommage an den mediterranen Lebensstil, stammt vom renommierten Weingut Gérard Bertrand in der Region Languedoc, entlang der Mittelmeerküste bis zur spanischen Grenze. Das Gebiet profitiert von einem halbtrockenen mediterranen Klima, das ideale Bedingungen für den Weinbau schafft. Das Flaschendesign, entworfen von einem jungen Designer des französischen College École Boulle, präsentiert einen Flaschenboden in Form einer Rosenblüte.
Die Trauben des Gérard Bertrand Sauvignon Blanc werden präzise gelesen, um keine der wundervollen Aromen zu verlieren, die ihn auszeichnen. Sein unverkennbares Bouquet von Zitrusfrüchten, Mineralität und französischer Eiche verleiht ihm seinen einzigartigen Charakter. Der Ausbau erfolgt sowohl im Edelstahltank als auch im großen Holzfass. Dieser Wein besitzt ein Lagerpotenzial von etwa 10 Jahren und wird mit einem Glaskorken verschlossen, um seine Qualität und Frische zu bewahren.
Tasting notes:
Im Glas zeigt sich der Gérard Bertrand Côte des Roses Sauvignon Blanc in einem hellen Strohgelb mit grünlichen Reflexen. In der Nase entfalten sich intensive Noten von Stachelbeere, Zitrusfrüchten, frischem Gras, Passionsfrucht und grünem Apfel. Am Gaumen wirkt der Wein knackig, frisch und lebendig, mit einer animierenden Säurestruktur, zarter Mineralität und einem spritzigen, fruchtbetonten Abgang. Ein Sauvignon Blanc mit mediterranem Flair und französischer Raffinesse.
Dieser Weißwein passt hervorragend zu Sommergerichten, wie Ziegenkäse-Salat, gegrilltem Fisch, Sushi, Austern, leichten Gemüsegerichten oder Risotto mit Spargel und Zitronenabrieb. Auch solo als Aperitif auf der Terrasse, zu Brunch oder leichten Tapas überzeugt der Côte des Roses Sauvignon Blanc durch Stil und Frische.
