Description

The Dellavalle Grappa in Barrique da Picolit 2007 is an elegantly matured specialty from the Distilleria Roberto Dellavalle in Vigliano d'Asti, Piedmont. For this exclusive vintage edition, selected pomace is distilled using the traditional method in small copper stills in order to preserve the fine, varietal aromas unchanged. The grappa is then matured in Picolit barriques, a barrel that previously contained the precious southern Italian dessert wine Picolit. This ageing process characterizes the distillate with a fine sweetness, warm fruity notes and an elegant woody aroma resulting from the long barrel ageing. Bottled at 42% by volume and presented in a high-quality wooden box, this limited edition grappa underlines its special character.

Maturing in Picolit barrels, the grappa develops a multi-layered structure that harmoniously combines ripe yellow fruit, delicate honey notes and the natural, clear distillation signature of the Dellavalle house. The combination of the Piedmontese distilling tradition and the aromatic depth of Picolit wine gives this grappa an exceptionally soft, round and warm style. This makes this edition one of the house's finest cask maturations and is aimed at lovers of complex, elegantly matured grappas. This Grappa in Barrique da Picolit 2007 is ideal with sweet specialties such as almond cookies, honey tart, zabaglione or chocolate desserts. It also harmonizes excellently with mature cheeses such as Taleggio, Pecorino or mild blue cheese, whose spiciness underlines its honey-fruity barrel notes. As a digestif after Mediterranean dishes, it unfolds its full aromatic complexity on its own at a slightly higher drinking temperature.
