The story of Johnnie Walker began in 1819, when John Walker founded a general store where whisky was blended like tea. The rise to a global brand began during the phylloxera plague (1858-1863), which caused cognac shortages and brought whisky into focus.
Launched in 1992, the Blue Label is based on the single malts of Royal Lochnagar and Mortlach as well as 13 other malts and grains, including Caol Ila and Talisker. With an impressive 80% malt content, the taste of this blend is based on whiskies from the 19th century. Only the highest quality casks are selected for production.
