The name of the Braida winery goes back to Giuseppe Bologna's nickname, which he acquired in his youth on the parish and church squares of his homeland. There he would meet up with like-minded people on Sundays to play "pallone elastico".

Founded in 1961 by Giacomo Bologna in Rocchetta Tanaro, Piedmont, Braida stands for the renaissance of Barbera. Giacomo proved that Barbera can mature into a complex, storable wine through late harvesting and ageing in French barriques. Today, his children Raffaella and Giuseppe continue to run the winery with the same passion.
Braida's 56 hectares of vineyards are located in Monferrato and the Langhe. The soils and microclimate of these regions offer ideal conditions for Barbera and other indigenous grape varieties.
Braida combines traditional winemaking with modern technology. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, fermented at a controlled temperature and matured in French barriques to promote structure and complexity.
