Hatozaki whisky - Japanese blended malt & more from Kaikyō
Hatozaki comes from the Kaikyō Distillery of the Akashi Sake Brewery in Akashi (Hyōgo), founded in 1856. The range includes blended malt, pure malt, rye editions and special bottlings - all natural, uncolored and unchill-filtered.
Region & Origin
The brand is produced in Akashi, not far from the Hatozaki lighthouse. The water is crystal clear, the grain carefully selected and the blends combine Japanese and Scottish distillery components.
Production & philosophy
Under Master Blender Kimio Yonezawa, complex whiskies are created with two stages of blending. They are matured in bourbon, sherry and Mizunara oak casks - often with cherry wood heads - to achieve depth and balance.
