Reifen durfte dieser Highland Park über 15 Jahre hinweg in einer Kombination aus europäischen und amerikanischen Sherryfässern, wodurch sich eine elegante Balance aus süßen, würzigen und rauchigen Aromen entwickelt hat. Die für Highland Park typische Torfnote – geprägt vom auf Orkney gestochenen, heidekrautreichen Torf – ist auch hier präsent, bleibt aber wunderbar eingebunden und sorgt für eine harmonische Tiefe. Abgefüllt mit 44 % Vol., in natürlicher Farbe und nicht kühlfiltriert, präsentiert sich dieser Whisky kraftvoll, geschmeidig und reich an Charakter. Tasting notes:
Farbe: Warmes Gold.
Nase: Komplex mit Noten von Trockenfrüchten, Orangenschale, Toffee, gebackenen Äpfeln, gerösteter Eiche und einem Hauch Rauch.
Geschmack: Vollmundig und rund mit Heidehonig, Muskatnuss, Karamell, gebrannten Nüssen, Sherrysüße und elegantem Torfrauch.
Abgang: Lang und würzig mit feiner Eiche, rauchigem Nachhall und leichter Süße.
Am besten genießt man diesen Highland Park pur bei Zimmertemperatur, um seine feinen Aromen in voller Tiefe zu entdecken. Ein paar Tropfen Wasser öffnen die Struktur und lassen süßere und fruchtige Noten hervortreten. Als Speisebegleitung passt er hervorragend zu geräuchertem Schinken, reifem Cheddar oder Wildgerichten, kann aber ebenso gut mit dunkler Schokolade oder Orangen-Desserts kombiniert werden.
