The Benkovac winery was built between 1956 and 1957 and was modeled on existing wineries in the south of France. Vinarija Benkovac only became better known in 2005 when it planted new vineyards in Korlat near Benkovac. An impressive 530,000 vines were planted over an area of 103 hectares.
