Description
The Salzl Chardonnay Premium 2022 is a powerful, complex yet extremely elegant white wine from Burgenland's Seewinkel region - a prime example of masterful craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this premium wine shows the full expressiveness of the grape variety and at the same time impressively brings out the characteristics of the terroir. The vines grow on Paratschernosem soil, a loamy-sandy subsoil with a high gravel content, which gives the wine its dense structure and distinctive minerality.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place at 15 °C in small oak barrels, in which the wine is then matured on the fine lees - including regular stirring (bâtonnage). This traditional method not only lends the Chardonnay Premium a creamy smoothness, but also plenty of depth and aromatic density. With 14% alcohol by volume, it is powerful and balanced, with impressive ageing potential until at least 2034 with optimal storage.

In the glass, the Chardonnay shines in an intense straw yellow with silver reflections. The nose reveals a penetrating aroma of pineapple, honeydew melon and yellow tropical fruit, accompanied by Golden Delicious apple, fine wood spice and a hint of clove. Delicate herbal nuances round off the complex bouquet. On the palate, the wine is juicy, dense and animating, with a fresh, salty minerality, lots of stone fruit, a creamy melt, subtle vanilla and roasted aromas, as well as fine hints of caramel, nougat, apple and pear on the long finish.

The Salzl Chardonnay Premium 2022 is a perfect accompaniment to white meat, poultry, but also to seafood such as shellfish, offal (e.g. brussels or liver) and Asian dishes with aromatic spices. Due to its low histamine content, it is even suitable for dark meat with histamine intolerance.
